Dog training is an unregulated industry in the United States

ANYONE can say they are a dog trainer

In 2018 I received my Certified Training Partner certificate from the Karen Pryor Academy of Animal Training and Animal Behavior after completing the Dog Trainer Professional course.  I completed the Aggression in Dogs Master Course from aggression expert Michael Shikashio in 2019. And in 2022 I received my Family Dog Mediator Certificate after completing the L.E.G.S Applied Ethology Family Dog Mediation® Professional Course by Kim Brophey.

Certifications and their worth are a hot topic in the dog training industry. Except for the KPA course there was no evaluation of skills in any of these courses. Only a certificate that confirms you completed the self study course or attended the webinar.  Even so I continue to learn about animal behavior and training methods by attending conferences, workshops, webinars, and enrolling in classes.
